Sharp is a company that is better known for it's consumer electronics than for its
photovoltaic technology. Sharp was one of the first companies to realize the potential
benefits of solar power. They began researching solar cells in 1959 with mass production
first beginning in 1963.
The technology the company has developed, with the future of the global environment in mind, is now among the most advanced available. Production capacity has grown to more than 100 MW. Sharp produces both single and multi-crystalline solar cells. These cells are incorporated into an extensive line of high-power modules.
