Island View
Island View is an ideal touring base for the Donegal Southwest peninsula. The historic town of Donegal, where the castle of Red Hugh O'Donnell has been carefully restored and is open to the public. west is Glencolmcille, site of a monastic settlement by St. Columba in the 6th century and also a treasure of many prehistoric monuments. To the north lie Glenveagh National Park Ardara and Glenties, heartland of Donegal knitwear and tweed. In the vicinity, there is pony trekking, hill walking and many beautiful drives taking in dramatic views of coasts and hills. There are excellent restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets and night-time entertainment ranging from the best of traditional to modern disco.
